Community Involvement

Charitable Causes

The organization provides support for its members and works endlessly for the empowerment of communities of color. We are a community-service based organization with a focus on academic excellence. In order to meet our objectives and the needs of our community, we organize and participate in various community service activities such as Voter Registration Day, American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, Susan G. Komen’s Race for a Cure, Violence & STD Prevention Programs, Child Safety Fair, and Latinos Unidos Festival just to name a few. To demonstrate our commitment, members of our organization volunteer an average of 500 hours a year and have raised thousands of dollars towards the awareness and research of our charitable causes:

Community Service

Community Service is one of the pillars of Delta Tau Lambda Sorority, Incorporated. We realize that through our assistance and service, other individuals can overcome many obstacles and achieve greatness. It is important to continuously give back to our communities and work to create environments that promote growth and positive development as a society.

Salute to Latinas

Every year chapters across the nation host our signature event, Salute to Latinas.

At this event, we take time to honor the accomplishments and strengths of all Latinas. We celebrate our history, cultures, and diversity with pride and recognize women who have impacted their community. Salute to Latinas is a journey through our past, present, and a view of our dreams for the future.

At Salute to Latinas, each chapter also gives away our annual scholarship, The Lydia Cruz and Sandra Maria Ramos Scholarship.

The Lydia Cruz and Sandra Maria Ramos Scholarship was established in March of 1995 by the founding members of the Delta Tau Lambda Sorority, Incorporated. Each year during the fall semester, Delta Tau Lambda hosts our annual Salute To Latinas event where we award the scholarship to a first-year college student or a high school graduating senior planning to enroll in college in order to assist the pursuit of their goals using education as their tool. The recipient must identify as Latina and be able to demonstrate leadership, community involvement, and passion.
